Breaking changes: our new Navigation solution partner is Sygic

From TomTom to Sygic:
Over the years our former navigation provider reduced his SDK more and more to drive his own business solutions.
Finally a SDK is no longer available!
Looking for an alternative solution we found www.sygic.com/tomtom-sdk.
Why we recommend Sygic:
  • Good support at first hand
  • A modern Navigation Solution (with actual maps)
  • Native .NET support in the SDK (no need for third party solutions)
  • Many operating systems support including Linux and Android
  • A partner which is even able to adapt the Navigation solution to your needs.

Clarifcation on what I need for developing for Navigator v3 & v5

I have TomTom Navigator 3 at the moment but I intend to upgrade to version 5 when they offer some upgrade path and so I would like to develop for both versions.

The prices on the website are a little unclear in the way they are phrased, are the below prices correct for what I want to do?

    TTNCF5: €215
    TTNCF3_5: €140
    Total: €355

Do I also need to buy either the TomTom Navigator SDK v3 or v5?

€355 is a little steep for personal use, are there any plans to have non-commercial use licenses?

    Hi Mark,

TomTom as well as we offered an upgrade path imideately after the release of TTN5.

We do no longer offer that path and AFAIK TomTom does also no longer of the Navigator Update 3 to 5.

With TTNCF5 you need the SDK 5.0 for licensing purposes.
TTNCF3_5 includes the SDK things you need - so what you need in addition to TTNCF5 and TTNCF3_5 is the SDK 5.0.

We do not offer non commercial license in any form as well as TomTom does not for the SDK.
By the way - you can find the TomTom SDK at http://www.tomtom.com/pro

    Regards

    Manfred

    Hi Manfred,

Thanks for the info. Creating some sort of PDA mashup in C# sounded like fun but it's too expensive for me - I think I stick to creating custom POIs.
