    License upgrade available

    Hi,

since a lot of customers want to upgrade to a different license of TTNCF5 we now offer special licencse upgrades.

    If you own
    >>Single developer,
    >>Single developer subscription,
    >>3 Developer,
    >>3 Developer Subscription or
    >>Enterprise Edition
you can upgrade to a bigger license.

The upgrade disables your current product.
You will get the most recent version of TTNCF with the upgrade. Subscription periodes (re)start with the upgrade date.
So think of it as if you sell your current product and buy a new one.

The difference for the upgrade is about 40 USD.

For this you get the most current version - and a longer subscription / support periode.
Upgrades are limited to a periode of 90 days starting from your first purchase.

You can obtain those upgrade at: http://ttncf.pp-p.net/TTNCF5/VUStoreAccess.aspx

    Announcment: TTNCF5 5.2

    Hi,

soon we will relese a new version of TTNCF5.
Closer details you will finde here: http://forums.pp-p.com/forums/228/ShowPost.aspx

    The primary enhancments are:

    1. Keep TTN alive
This means TTNCF runs a thread restarting TTN if terminated or died
    2. Check TTN running
"Blocking" calls will be precided by "CheckIfTTNRunning"
This depends on the "Kepp alive" feature.
So if you don't activate "Keep alive" - everything works as usual
    3. .NET 2.0 Support
We'v got the final release of VS 2005 earlier than expected - so we are already working on it with the release

I will place another post here after we are ready to ship.

    Regards

    Changes TTN 5.2

    Hi,

the things have changed a lot.

Testing the currently received betas I am glad to tell you that TomTom "reimplemented" the start of TTN when a synchronous call is made.

But we will build the "TTN Keep Alive" even if this is "back again" (once it was there in the early betas).

The reason - ....AsyncRetrive still blocks (does not start TTN) and there are a lot of other reasons why it is great to have TTN running.
So the plans for the update are:

5.2 as stated in the post before.
5.3 with the new SDK enhancments after the release of the SDK.
Or both things in 5.2 if TomTom keeps the 21st as shipment date!!

The reason for (possibly) making two versions are:
TomTom sometimes has delays with the shipment of their software. Or in other words - "sometimes there is a time difference between the dates they announce - and the time the things are realy released".
An example: TomTom pro states: .....TomTom MOBILE 5 SDK5 will be available for Windows-based smartphones in August .....

And at the moment they say - it will be release with the new SDK 5 at 21st of november Smile [:)]
And our version 5.2 it is planned for the end of next week - meaning ready to buy on 21st of November.

A few days after the release of the new SDK we will release our 5.3 version of TTNCF5.
There are not very much enhancments - so it is not to much work.
It will take us about one week for testing (implementation is under progress!!).
If TomTom is realy shippung the 21st - we will ship about one week later - the whole version!

And in "End Jannuary" TomTom will bring the "more enhanced SDK" the prommised for Q4 of 2005.
So this is the time where we will bring the next wrapper.....

IMPORTANT - this now 5.2 and x weeks later 5.3 (if we have to do it) is not a kind of "makeing money"!
Every customer who buys the update for 5.2 will receive 5.3 for free - no matter if he has a subscription or not!

I a few words the enhancments of the new SDK:

    • ClearRoute as new function
We'v been watiting a long time for it - now it is there!!
    • Full NavigateToPostalCode / GeocodeByPostalCode  support in NL and UK
both have also the  HouseNumber as parameter
    • SetRouteSummaryVisible
the route summary display can be avioded (if you want)
    • direct access to raw GPS data (some kind of "opposite GPS driver")
    • BUG Fixes
StopAllication now blocks till TTN is terminated
      better GeoCode function
      better support for GPS Driver

So as you a lot of the promissed thing ("sensitive" TTN screen for an example) are not implemented - but a lot of very usefull things are there.
Those other "more enhanced things" will be in the Q1 SDK next year.

    Regards

    Documentation online

    Hi,

I want to keep you up to date.
At the very moment we uploaded the online documentation of TTNCF5_2 to TTNCFCN.

You access it online or download the PDF version from there.

State update: we are testing with the current SDK beta and what we see looks good.

We implemented all the new functions, the above described KeepAlive and a few new helper functions.
TomTom told us that the will keep the date - so we will (almost for sure) ship the complete version.

    Re: Changes TTN 5.2

    hi manfred,

i know that this question will be stupid, but what do you mean exactly by : direct access to raw GPS data ?Embarrassed [:$]

and about the important change (in fact recuperate the coordinates of the pointed screen point) that we discuss last month, is it delayed to january ?

    AW: Re: Changes TTN 5.2

    Hi Nicolas,

what I told here (about the TomTom SDK enhancements) is what TomTom sent out in their mail.

Lets face the changes (this will include your answers since you know what TTN does now):

    1. Delete Route
Important (and long wanted) - you guide your driver via your software. He (almost!!) reaches the destination and parks the car.
After his Job he drives away - TomTom (not knowing that he reached the destination) tells him to turn around.
With this function call you can overcome this problem
    2. PostalCode Functions
A lot of customers wanted to do their routing (Geocoding, etc.) by postalcode.
TomTom now implemented a set of functions achiving this.
    3. More GPS information from TTN
Formerly there where two ways to handle the GPS things.
Handle the GPS yourself (open comport or bluetooth, read the data and hand it over to TTN after parsing.
Or use GetCurrentPosition which gives you Longi, Lati, Speed and Direction.
If you need (often aksed) for an example HDOP or GPS Time you had to do the GPS-Driver-thing.

Instead of giving the "missing values" (Time, altitude, DOPs) TomTom decided to give all the GPS data to the SDK user.

And the next SDK (Q2 2006) should then include the features promissed for this release.
They are "location sensitive klickable map view" and such things.

    Regards

    AW: Re: Changes TTN 5.2

    Hi,

for those of you waiting for the update we have bad news.

At our final test we confirmed a bug at the new TomTom Navigator. http://forums.pp-p.com/forums/276/ShowPost.aspx

We will decide tomorrow what to do. Either ship as planed - or wait for a fix from TomTom.

Since all our tests had a positive resulte - except that one - (and even that works with other versions of TTN exe)
we can be almost sure that shipping would mean the same than not shipping.

In both cases we have to wait for a new TTN exe to have that function call working.
There is a very little chance that TTNCF5 would need a "little remake" because of that exe.

So if we decide to ship - it could (very little chance) be that we have to provide an "fix" very soon.
If we ship not it could be that we give it a simple test - and we can ship the bits already waiting here.

We will talk with Christiaan Langezaal tomorrow and keep you informed.

    Regards

Subscribers can access the new version

    Hi,

the first step is done - http://forums.pp-p.com/forums/288/ShowPost.aspx

Existing subscribers can download TTNCF5 Version 5.2 via TTNCFGen.

We decided to ship this version since the problem with SwitchMap can be fixed with a new TTN.exe...and the date of this fix is very unclear at the moment.

Next step is the webshop - expect news about it later - it takes some time.

For those subscribed to this thread - pleas don't be angry about the mail we will send out when the shop is ready.
We will inform all customers about the availability - handle it like a users manual - ingnore it. Big Smile [:D]

    V 5.2 Available / TTNCF3_5 update

    Hi,

on December fourth we released TTNCF5 V 5.2 to subscribers.
On December sixth we made the updates available via our update shop.

The next thing is a new Version of TTNCF3_5 with works for the new Wrapper.

Existing customers of TTNCF5_2 AND TTNCF3_5 can access the beta via http://ttncf.pp-p.net.

If you are a customer of both products you will see a link in the "Products" area of the tree.
And there (as thinkable) under TTNCF5_2/TTNCF3_5.

New in this version is native .NET 2.0 support and that it works with TTNCF5_2 and not with TTNCF5 (5.0 & 5.1).

For the "not updateing customers" there is no need to update TTNCF3_5 - see next section!

Next week we will release a net PPPTT5Helper.dll which links with SDK 5.21.
This Helper will be available via TTNCFGen for TTNCF5 (5.0 / 5.1) customers.

The "new things" in this wrapper: Linkage with SDK 5.21

There are no new functions and there is no native .NET 2.0 Support.
It simply works with the new SDK - so you can take profit of the fixed bugs.

This enables also TTNCF3_5 to run with the new SDK.

    Regards

    Manfred

    Re: V 5.2 Available / TTNCF3_5 update

    Hi,

    just a little update information.

TomTom announced the release of TTN 6 on August 30th.

Today we got a new (looks very final) release of the SDK 6.

This means the time for the new TTNCF6 is near - get closer information at http://ttncf.pp-p.net
Choose the second folder on top!

We will soon update our site to state that:
If you buy TTNCF5 after the 1st of September you will get a free update to TTNCF6.

We do this in the hope that the release of the final SDK is near.

    Regards

    Manfred
