Breaking changes: our new Navigation solution partner is Sygic

From TomTom to Sygic:
Over the years our former navigation provider reduced his SDK more and more to drive his own business solutions.
Finally a SDK is no longer available!
Looking for an alternative solution we found www.sygic.com/tomtom-sdk.
Why we recommend Sygic:
  • Good support at first hand
  • A modern Navigation Solution (with actual maps)
  • Native .NET support in the SDK (no need for third party solutions)
  • Many operating systems support including Linux and Android
  • A partner which is even able to adapt the Navigation solution to your needs.

    ttncf 5.2 and ttn 6.0

    Manfred,

We are trying to run our application which uses TTNCF 5.2 to start up a TTN 6.0 session but we get the "no maps found" error. The device is a HP hw6915 from the UK which came preloaded with a version of TTN but was upgraded via SD to TTN 6.0. TTN 6.0 runs fine from the Start menu and finds the maps okay. However if I start it from our app, the ttn comes up complaining about "no maps found".  Please advise. Thanks.

(The same app is working fine on the HP hw6965  running TTN 5.0 ).

Re: ttncf 5.2 and ttn 6.0

    Hi,

SDK 5 (and so TTNCDF4..) is not compatible with TTN6.

So any kind of problems are "by design" Smile [:)]

SDK6 still has a problem which results in the fact that we can't ship TTNCF6 at the moment.
TomTom told us (Friday) that they will "try to fix it as soon as possible".

And another fact is that some of those "bundles" are in general not supported by the SDKs.

    Regards

    Manfred

    Hi,

depending on the TTNCF version you own (subscription - standard) and the purchase date there are different methods.

Active Subscribers: they got an email on saturday with a direct download link.
Non subscribers - bougth BEFORE Sept. 1st 2006: as usual you can purchase the product via http://ttncf.pp-p.net
Non subscribers - bougth AFTER Sept. 1st 2006: will get an email how to get the free update

    Regards

Re: ttncf 5.2 and ttn 6.0

    Hi,

you are in a "strange situation" Smile [:)]

I think you should have got an email about the free update since you own a subscription.
BUT on the other hand you bought after Sept. 1st 2006 - so you will get an extra notification about how to obtain the new product.

There is a difference between a "normal subscriber" and your situation.

A "normal subscriber" gets the product update.
This changes two things - A it sets his "got new product flag" and it gives access to a special download link where he can get the files.
The flag is important because our license says:
.....XXX time or at least one update......

So if you bought the prodoct at any time - it does not matter if you subscription ended (from the time frame) - you are a subscriber as long as you did not get a new version.
This is signaled by the flag.

In your case the things are different.
You bought the product at a time where we said "the new product will be out soon".
---(A delay from TomTom and a problem in the SDK made the "soon" a bit longer)
so new customers should get a new product.

This means that you will get a whole new product - not only an update.
There is no functional difference - but as a TTNC6 customer (what you will become) you did not receive a new product wiht this update.
So you stay in the state "no new product received" and your subscrition will end after 1 year (starting at purchase) or after you get a new product (what ever happens LATER).

    Regards

    Manfred

Re: ttncf 5.2 and ttn 6.0

Glad to hear this since it prooves that the info mail went out correct.

Anyhow - you will get a further email with information about how to get the new product for free.
There is no difference in the functionality - it is more or less a "database thing".

To ensure that you will receive this mail you should ask you admin to place the TTNCF mail address on the whitelist of the spam filter.

    Regards
